The curtain of the 15th Shanghai Auto Show is about to open. On the eve of the auto show, we took photos of Land Rover’s brand-new Range Rover Sport Edition in the exhibition hall, and the new Range Rover Sport Edition will make its Asian debut at the Shanghai Auto Show.
Compared with the new generation Range Rover, the new Range Rover Sport Edition is more inclined to the Aurora in design, especially in the design of the front face. In addition, the sport version adopts a black roof configuration, and the design of the rear end is completely different from the ordinary version, which is closer to the Aurora.
The new Land Rover Range Rover Sport Edition also features a silver lower fender design, and the design of the wheel hub is also consistent with Aurora. On the whole, Range Rover Sport Edition is more like an enlarged version of Aurora, which is quite different from the ordinary version.
The new Range Rover Sport Edition has 19 exterior colors to choose from, and 9 alloy wheels of 19-22 inches are available on the hub. The body size of the new Range Rover Sport Edition is 4850mm, which is 62mm longer than the old one, and the wheelbase is 178mm longer than the old one, reaching 2923 mm.. Compared with Range Rover, Range Rover Sport Edition has a shorter body length of 149mm and a lower height of 55mm.
The old Range Rover Sport Edition and Discovery are the same platform models, while the new Range Rover Sport Edition will adopt the platform of Range Rover. According to official information, 75% of the spare parts of Range Rover Sport Edition and the new Range Rover are common. The new Range Rover Sport Edition is made of aluminum body platform, which is further lightweight, and the chassis quality is reduced by 39% compared with the old one.
In terms of power, overseas media reported that the new Range Rover Sport Edition will provide four power options, including 3.0Lr-TD V6 and 4.4Lr-SD V8 diesel engines and 3.0L supercharged and 5.0L supercharged gasoline engines. All engines are matched with an 8-speed automatic gearbox from ZF.
On the four-wheel drive system, the new Range Rover Sport Edition has two full-time four-wheel drive options, one of which provides a two-speed transfer case and has a low gear. The default power distribution is 50:50, and the power is distributed to the front and rear wheels through a multi-disc clutch central differential, up to 100%. The more powerful model under the four-wheel drive system is also equipped with an electronically controlled active differential lock at the rear axle to further improve the passability.
