Li Xiaochao, deputy director of the Office of the Leading Group for the Fourth National Economic Census in the State Council and deputy director of the National Bureau of Statistics, said that the National Bureau of Statistics will revise the preliminary GDP accounting figures in 2018 according to the data of the economic census and the data of relevant departments, and will announce the revised results of the GDP data in 2018 in the near future.

Li Xiaochao said that according to China’s current national economic accounting system, China’s annual GDP should be accounted for twice. The first time is a preliminary accounting, and the GDP of the previous year will be announced at the beginning of each year. The second time is the final verification of GDP, mainly based on annual data, financial final accounts and departmental administrative records. At the end of each year, the preliminary accounting figures of the previous year should be revised. When it comes to the year of economic census, it is necessary to revise the preliminary GDP accounting for that year according to the more comprehensive and detailed data provided by the economic census.

"According to the current work arrangement, the Bureau of Statistics will announce the revised results of GDP data in 2018 in the near future. 2018 is the year of economic census. The fourth national economic census covers all legal entities, industrial activity units and self-employed households engaged in the secondary and tertiary industries in China. At present, the national economic census has been successfully completed, which provides comprehensive and rich basic data for GDP accounting. The National Bureau of Statistics will revise the preliminary calculation of GDP in 2018 according to the annual GDP accounting method of the fourth national economic census according to the economic census data and relevant department data.
