"I am not afraid of death, but I am afraid of living?" Veterans write hundreds of thousands of words novels with residual limbs.
Cctv news(Reporter Ren Jia): Have you ever experienced a war? If you were killed by war, would you still have enough courage to stand up again? Will you still make unremitting efforts for the ideal in your heart when you are dragging your body to the hospital bed?
In Zhangjiaquan Village, Xili Town, Yiyuan County, Shandong Province, there lived such an old man. At the age of 14, he went through hundreds of battles as a soldier. At the age of 17, he lost his limbs and left eye in the battle. At the age of 24, he provoked the burden of the village party secretary with a severely disabled body. At the age of 63, he wrote an autobiographical novel with 330,000 words … …
He is Zhu Yanfu, a Communist party member who is known as "pavel korchagin of China".
Is it raw? Is it death?
In July 1933, Zhu Yanfu was born in a small stone house in Zhangjiaquan Village. At the age of 10, my father was killed by Japanese invaders. At the age of 14, he sneaked into the army without telling his mother. On the battlefield, he fought bravely, was wounded 10 times and won the meritorious military service three times.
In 1949, Zhu Yanfu gloriously joined the Communist Party of China (CPC). In the second year of joining the party, on the Korean battlefield, his comrades-in-arms died, leaving him alone in the whole company. In order not to be captured properly, Zhu Yanfu turned over and jumped off a cliff, and crawled more than 3,000 meters in the ice and snow before being rescued by accident. After 93 days, Zhu Yanfu miraculously woke up after 47 operations. However, the war took away his limbs and left eye. His right eye vision was only 0.3, his weight was less than 30 kilograms, and his "height" was only 1.32 meters.
The physical disability made 17-year-old Zhu Yanfu hard to accept for a while. When he looked at himself like this, he once thought of death. In his diary, he once recalled his inner struggle at that time: "For a long time, there was a fierce contradiction in his heart: is it better to die or to continue to live?" Are you alive? It’s a mountain of difficulties, and it’s hard to move one step at a time. In the whole course of life, it’s full of difficulties, obstacles and troubles that every line will encounter. Small ones eat and dress, big ones walk and spin, and even work and struggle are always in front of me. "
But when he thought of his comrades who died, he felt that he was still a soldier even if he became a "meat wheel". "We Communist party member are not afraid of death, but are we still afraid of living? !”
Subsequently, he was transferred to Shandong Rongjun sanatorium. Here, his life is taken care of by special people. Zhu Yanfu is strong. He doesn’t want to be a "parasite" who is fed by others. In order to live with more dignity, he is determined to "stand up" again.
In order to practice walking, he put on artificial limbs and often fell down. In order to practice cutting vegetables and cooking, he bit the back of the knife with his mouth, and then pressed it down with his broken arm, barely cutting the vegetables into two or three pieces. Eating is more difficult for Zhu Yanfu. Pick up the spoon with your arms, and before you get close to the bowl, the spoon falls off; Pick up the spoon with your mouth, clamp it and scoop it again, and knock over the bowl again; I finally scooped up the "rice", slowly put my arm away, and as soon as I lowered my head and opened my mouth, I scooped up the "rice" … … Once, twice and three times, an action should be practiced dozens or hundreds of times. He is exhausted after every meal. After repeated failures, Zhu Yanfu learned to stand, go to the toilet by himself, load and unload artificial limbs, shave, strike matches and so on. Slowly, a sound man can do most of what he can.
After taking care of himself, Zhu Yanfu had another worry. "The martyrs used every opportunity and every moment to fight to the death with the enemy on the execution ground and in the prison for the revolutionary cause. Can’t I stand up for the great cause of the party under such sunny and warm conditions until the last jump of my heart?"
In 1956, Zhu Yanfu voluntarily gave up the special care treatment and returned to his hometown.
Laughing is better than crying.
Zhang Jiaquan Village, Zhu Yanfu’s hometown, is located in the hinterland of Yimeng Mountain. In the past, Ganniugou, Latiaogou and Shedigou on the edge of the village divided the farmland into pieces, and the natural conditions were very bad because of the steep slope and lack of land and water. At that time, there was a folk song of "Three Panics": "There is a grain shortage in spring, and I am too busy in summer, and I am too worried about being naked in autumn and winter." Zhu Yanfu recalled: "At that time, as soon as there was a disaster, the harvest failed year after year, and the villagers often could not fill their stomachs."
In the second year after returning to his hometown, Zhu Yanfu, with the strong recommendation of the villagers, provoked the burden of the party branch secretary of Zhangjiaquan Village. He wrote in his diary: "As far as objective conditions are concerned, I am a super disabled person with no hands and feet, and I will have great difficulties in doing any job well." What kind of party member should I be? Can’t stand the wind and rain, want to sit in the greenhouse? Or forgive yourself for being disabled and let others flatter you ‘ It’s amazing that you can still work with such a heavy disability ’ Is there a name for the picture? No, I want to use all the advantages to do a person’s actual workload! "
In the next 25 years, in order to change the poverty and backwardness of Zhangjiaquan village as soon as possible, he organized night classes, drilled wells, built water bridges, filled ditches and cultivated fields, and installed electricity and electricity … …
In the cold weather, Zhu Yanfu put on a prosthetic leg and walked down a deep well nearly 10 meters. The iron leg and the meat leg were frozen together and bloody; With an iron leg weighing 17 pounds, he often has to go over mountains and mountains to inspect, standing, kneeling, crawling and rolling. It is common for the wound surface of the limbs to bleed and fester, but he feels that "it is good to hurt, and only when it hurts will he know that he is still alive".
In the process of searching for water, Zhu Yanfu had endured the pain of stomach trouble, but unfortunately his leg was bleeding again, and the pain suddenly became unbearable. He found a song book to sing, and the more his leg hurts, the more he sings. In hotter weather, his leg will be broken almost every time he walks. This is how he deals with it. He said: "Because moaning and singing are both voices, one is sadness and the other is optimism. Singing is better than sighing, and laughing is better than crying."
In this way, Zhu Yanfu led the whole village cadres to fight the cold and the heat, manage mountains, control water, build fields and build electricity, and finally transformed this poor and backward mountain village into a beautiful and wealthy village.
The song "Three Panics" in those days has also become today’s "flowers and plants are beautiful in spring, melons and fruits are sweet in summer, and pockets are bulging in autumn and winter", which sings the great changes in production, life and ecology of the people in Zhangjiaquan Village in recent years.
Different Abilities: Not Like the Others
In 1982, Zhu Yanfu was seriously ill, and gradually became physically exhausted, and voluntarily resigned as the village party secretary. However, he was unwilling. With the firm belief that "a communist party member can do something as long as there is life", he wrote the stories of his comrades’ heroic fighting and his own experiences in a book to educate future generations.
Zhu Yanfu folded the quilt into a "square" and put it on his thigh. Then he put the tablet on the quilt, bowed his head and tried to write with a pen in his mouth. The saliva flowed down the handle of the pen, soaked the manuscript paper, and changed it to write again! Change it when it’s wet, and you can only write a dozen words every day at first. Long-term bending and hunching made him dizzy, and the wounds everywhere were unbearable.
Zhu Yanfu’s Notes
For seven years, more than 2,000 days and nights like purgatory, Zhu Yanfu, who had never been to school for a day, turned over four dictionaries and used up half a ton of manuscript paper, and finally published the autobiographical novel "Extreme Life" with 330,000 words in July 1996. He said: "Readers can feel the unyielding martyrs, the awe-inspiring revolutionary soldiers and the self-improvement of the disabled from Extreme Life, so as to gain the strength of being a man, then I won’t be ashamed of being idle."
A few months after the novel was published, Zhu Yanfu was paralyzed by cerebral infarction and lost consciousness in his right side. Holding a pen in his arms was no good, so he held the pen with a hoop and practiced writing with his left hand. In 1999, he published his second autobiographical novel, Men Without Regret, with 240,000 words.
Today, 86-year-old Zhu Yanfu is hemiplegic on his right side and has a stent in his heart, but he still refuses to accept the old age. Insist on exercising, reading and writing, pay attention to national affairs, and care about the development of my hometown. "I think I am still useful, and I am disabled but not useless."
From youth to old age, from Xiao Zhu to Zhu Lao, Zhu Yanfu is grateful for life.
Compared with the comrades who died, he is still alive at least: he has been on trains and planes, seen mobile phones and computers, and enjoyed the fruits of victory; There are also children who enjoy family happiness; There is still a chance to contribute to the country with the rest of the body.
At the same time, he is also proud that he can step on the pain and suffering and live proudly as a winner.
Talking about what happiness is, Zhu Yanfu thinks the definition of happiness is very simple. Walking a few steps without falling down is a kind of happiness; Doing something for everyone is a kind of happiness; Doing your own thing is a kind of happiness; Challenging mediocrity is happiness. He always firmly believes that "if people are alive, they have to struggle;" Struggle is happiness; If you struggle, happiness will continue.
