At the 77th Cannes International Film Festival that ended not long ago, "Dog Array" received a lot of praise from audiences at home and abroad, and won the best film in the "One Kind of Attention" section in one fell swoop. 13 years ago, when I took "Roll Over! Ashin" to Cannes for promotion, I secretly made a wish, and 13 years later, "Dog Array" won the award. For Peng Yuyan, this was like a wonderful journey. "I once had a dream of my own 13 years ago. I am very happy, very honored, and happy for the director."

"Dog Formation" is mainly about the mutual redemption between a person and a dog. Peng Yuyan chose this script because it was more challenging. "The world view of this character is far away from me, and I have to understand the local customs and culture, people’s behavior and attitude towards life. I don’t know what happened to him ten years ago in the script. This is also a fun place, and I can shape it." To this end, Peng Yuyan went to the local area to experience life very early, so that he could enter the role as quickly as possible. Director Jia Zhangke said that when he first saw Peng Yuyan’s shape, it was almost impossible to tell whether he was a local or not.

Another reason why Peng Yuyan chose "Dog Formation" is the dog. "I like dogs very much, and I got more things than I imagined when I acted with dogs." Everyone said that filming with animals was difficult, and Peng Yuyan paid a lot of patience for it. "I don’t know how to describe it, but I think animals can feel me." After filming, he also adopted the dog named Xiao Xin. "It won the grand prize of the Cannes Film Festival Dog Palme d’Or, and my friends rushed to take care of it."

"Dog Formation" is Peng Yuyan’s first collaboration with director Guan Hu. Before the collaboration, he imagined Guan Hu to be a super tough guy, cool and majestic, but after real contact, he found that Guan Hu is very strict with actors, but will not give any pressure to actors, "His requirements for filming can be described as meticulous. We can shoot a shot for 20 days, and he is willing to give me 10, 20 to 50, 60, and a few times it seems like 80 or so. To shoot something, you can see his requirements for his own creation."

Peng Yuyan, who has been out for more than 20 years, has cooperated with many famous directors, which can be called a "famous director harvester". From Zhang Yimou, a representative of the fifth generation of directors, to Lin Chaoxian, a master of Hong Kong action movies, from Xu Anhua, a winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Venice International Film Festival, to Jiang Wen, a talented and maverick who spans the fields of performance and directing, etc., all have had in-depth cooperation with him.

Zhang Yimou dared to take risks and try different types of filming. Jiang Wen was very sincere and direct to everyone. Lin Chaoxian liked to challenge the limits, and Xu Anhua was always very good to the actors… Peng Yuyan, who was not trained in acting, was frequently favored by famous directors, and he also personally felt their work status and personality charm in cooperation with these directors with different styles, and presented many masterpieces together. In the face of the casting doubts suffered by "The First Incense", Peng Yuyan’s attitude was also very positive and frank, "Every movie has its audience, and being an actor is an experience. It is a good learning for me. Of course, fans of the original book may be embarrassed."

After so many years of filming, Peng Yuyan was used to learning different skills in different plays. He learned dolphin training in "Dolphin in Love with Cats", surfing in "I’m in Kenting", and gymnastics in "Roll!".

Learning is not only reflected in the practice of various skills. Along the way, Peng Yuyan has cooperated with different famous directors, as well as with Liang Jiahui, Deng Chao, Zhang Hanyu, Liao Fan and many other well-known actors. He regards the set as his own school and learns the strengths of other actors. "Maybe everyone talks about the so-called soaring drama, and many times they steal and imitate each other.

Growing up in a single-parent family, he started working as an actor for his grandmother, and he was always desperate to improve himself in order to film. This is Peng Yuyan. Now, at the age of no confusion, he is not filming as often as before. "I think many of the roles I played before were quite beautiful, but when I take a break, I will find another side of myself and want to try something different. When I happen to encounter a work like’Dog Formation ‘, maybe many people will see an exit, and I am also looking for this exit."
