German media: China surpassed Japan to become the second largest advertising country in the world.

German "Advertising Central Association" website January 15 article, original title: global advertising: all kinds of capital are active in red China.

China has become the second largest advertising country in the world after the United States. Although the advertising expenditure of the United States rose to $163 billion from 1997 to 2006, with an increase of 53%, the advertising expenditure of China increased 13 times year-on-year to $48.5 billion.

At present, China has surpassed Japan to become the second largest advertising spending country in the world. Japan’s advertising investment is 34.2 billion US dollars, ranking behind China, the fourth is Britain, and the fifth is Germany.

The media used in advertising in each country is very different. The United States spends 38% on TV and 27% on newspapers, while China spends 81% on TV advertisements, and only 17% of the advertising funds enter the newspaper industry. The allocation of advertising funds in Japan is similar to that in the United States: 23% for newspapers and 44% for television, but the proportion of outdoor advertising (12%) is significantly higher than that in the United States (3%).
