Huawei announced the successful development and replacement of MetaERP and redefined the core business system of the enterprise.

[China, Dongguan, April 20, 2023] Huawei announced the realization of independent and controllable MetaERP research and development, and completed the replacement of the old ERP system. In order to commend the relevant teams and individuals who have made great contributions to this project, Huawei held the MetaERP commendation meeting of "Heroes Crossing the Dadu River" in the Beipo Village Park of Dongguan Stream.

ERP is the most critical and important enterprise IT application. Since MRP II was introduced in 1996, and the ERP version has been continuously upgraded iteratively, ERP, as the core system of Huawei’s enterprise management, has supported Huawei’s rapid development for more than 20 years, its business with an annual output value of hundreds of billions, and its efficient operation in more than 170 countries around the world.

In 2019, faced with the pressure of the external environment and its own business challenges, Huawei decided to start the replacement of the old ERP system and start the research and development of the self-controlled MetaERP system. As the most extensive and complicated project in Huawei’s history, in the past three years, Huawei has invested thousands of people, combined with industrial partners and ecological partners to overcome difficulties, developed a future-oriented ultra-large-scale cloud-native MetaERP, and successfully completed the replacement of the old ERP system.

Up to now, MetaERP has covered 100% of Huawei’s business scenarios and 80% of its business volume. It has passed the test of monthly closing, quarterly closing and annual closing, and achieved zero failure, zero delay and zero account reconciliation.

Based on root technologies such as Huawei Euler operating system and GaussDB, it has joined many partners and adopted advanced technologies such as cloud native architecture, metadata multi-lease architecture and real-time intelligent technology, which can effectively improve business efficiency and improve operation quality. Huawei will continue to focus on the goal of "minimalist architecture, extremely high quality, extremely low cost and excellent experience", and work with partners to build an independent, controllable, more efficient and secure enterprise core business system in the fields of ERP and PLM.
